Watch out! False PCR and vaccination certificates are sold on the dark web

The 'Green Certificate' has already been proposed by the European Commission to make the vaccination passport visible. It is a digital tool that will be installed on mobile phones for free and will have a QR code enabled to avoid possible counterfeits

The European Commission launches the idea that each country has its own database so that the QR has a specific code to check if the vaccination certificate is valid.

The commission explains in the documents that “each certifying entity, such as a hospital, a test center or a health authority, will have its own digital signature. All of them will be stored in a secure database in each country ”.

Despite the fact that QR codes are a secure solution, the Israeli security company ‘Check Point’ defends that countries are installing these tools to open their borders. On the other hand, Spain and its tourism sector consider that this passport is a key piece to try to save the tourism that takes place in summer.

Despite the various positions that exist, the development of this technological tool could complicate things. In the United Kingdom it has already been the case of the existence of forged passports through the dark web.

Check Point has discovered that cybercriminals are selling counterfeit British certificates on the back of the net. These fake vaccination passports cost less than 200 euros.

Other products circulating on the dark web are negative PCR tests that can be obtained for less than 25 euros and fake vaccines, from the AstraZeneca for more than 400 euros to the Sputnik vaccine for 500.

Trying to obtain a vaccine, PCR or vaccination certificate is very risky because the user's health is in suspense, in addition, cybercriminals will take advantage of the private information and identity of customers who buy these products.
